Announcing Spring 2020 Running Groups

New program and changes to an old fav.  Gotta mix it up and keep it interesting around here!

All of this thinking about spring and summer running while updating the website has got me looking forward to running in a tank top.  I’m tired of this Tucson “cold”.  Not only am I excited for not seeing my breath on Saturday mornings, I’m excited because we are making some changes and adding some new, fun running challenges for you.

Here we go!

Spring 5K Running Start Program returns March 17.

Hot on the heels of the Arizona Distance Classic, we’re not taking a breather and we’re going straight into a fresh round of doing what SWET does best – welcome and make new runners!

Our Spring Running Start 5K program runs March 17th – June 4th.  The goal race is the Meet Me Downtown 5K on June 6.  Designed as an introduction to running, our Running Start program will make you a runner;  if you can run or jog for 1 minute and walk briskly for 30 minutes total, this group is for you.  Your goal race entry is also included in your Running Start registration fee.

STaT – Strength, Track and Trail, April 8

The inaugural session of STaT is here!  STaT is a unique and fun 4 week program designed to increase your short distance speed and core strength.  This program uses focused speed work, plyometrics and HIIT concepts on the track, and interval running on the TRAILS to increase your short term speed.  STaT is also suitable for runners looking for introduction to trail running and for runners training for Physical Fitness Tests.  It’s different, it’s fun, and accessible to all experience level runners.

SWEThogs 10k, May 9

We’ve been changing a few things at SWET the last couple of sessions, and now it’s SWEThogs’ turn.  Our summer program is returning to deliver the scorching desert air to your lungs that you crave, but now we’re giving SWEThogs goalz.

This session of SWEThogs will be a dedicated 10k training program with your choice of a beginning 10k training program suitable for Running Start 5K graduates, or, an advanced 10k training plan for veteran runners.  Our goal race for SWEThogs 10k will be the Run with the Roosters 5 miler on July 12. (I know that a 5 miler is shorter than a 10k, but we’re going to train you for a 10k so yer extra ready). We are also including your Roosters entry in your SWEThogs registration fee.

SWEThogs is starting immediately as STaT ends.  We will use your STaT ending mile times to create your 10K plans.

Consider yourself put on notice, Tucson.  SWET is coming for those chicken trophies.
