Coach for the following running groups: Running 365 – 10K to 13.1 M Prep, SWEThogs
Why I enjoy coaching: It’s all about the people. For me, it’s an honor to have the opportunity to work with people who want to achieve a goal and be able to play some part in helping reach it. Running has brought so many good things into my life and I want to share my experiences with others. Coaching makes me happy!
My favorite coaching moment: For me, it’s a series of moments that stand out. The Northwest Distance team bonded, not only as runners, but also as friends who support each other in running and in life. The team started a weekly tradition where we work out hard together on the track and then enjoy each other’s company over a post workout beverage and meal! I love our camaraderie and am excited to share that with folks who are new to the group.
What motivates me to run: I run for so many different reasons. I started running more than 30 years ago as a way to manage stress and never stopped! Today, I run because I love to run, I run in honor of those who cannot, I run for my health, I run for some time alone, I run to challenge myself, I run to be with friends, and, of course, I run because of that amazing feeling I have when the run is finished!!
My proudest personal achievement: From a running perspective, I guess I am most proud of completing a marathon in under four hours. It took me years and five or six marathons (at altitude) to finally accomplish this goal! I learned from each run and made steady improvements over the years until it finally all came together and I achieved my goal. From a personal perspective, I was the first in my family of eight children to graduate from college and later to continue my education and graduate from law school and become a licensed attorney in Colorado!
